Harrow Liberal Democrats welcome the news of David Ward’s sacking

Responding to the news that Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron has dismissed David Ward from standing as a candidate over a string of anti-Jewish comments, Adam Bernard, Liberal Democrat candidate for Harrow East said:

"David Ward's repeated and inappropriate slurs against the Jewish community have no place in a party that prides itself on inclusivity and tolerance. I want Britain to be a welcoming place for people of all communities and all faiths, and I am glad that Tim Farron acted decisively."

Marisha Ray, vice-chair of the Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats and candidate for Chipping Barnet added,

"Antisemitism is racism. There's no place for it in our party of equality, fairness and justice. As vice-chair of Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats, I campaign for race equality and I have taken up many concerns from many different communities with the party leader today. People of various faiths or of none have expressed their shock to me. I am pleased that Tim Farron has taken action swiftly."
